Exploring the World of Horses: A Hands-On Workshop
Objective:
To introduce young participants to horses, their behavior, and their role in human well-being. Parents are invited to stay or drop off.
Workshop Schedule:
11:00 AM - 11:15 AM: Welcome and Icebreaker
Introduction: Greet the participants and share a brief overview of the workshop.
Icebreaker Activity: Create trail mix
11:15 AM - 11:45 AM: Horse Anatomy and Behavior
Interactive Presentation: Discuss basic horse anatomy (hooves, mane, tail, etc.) and their unique features.
Activity: Participants create a simple paper horse model, labeling its parts.
11:45 AM - 12:15 PM: Meet the Horses
Guided Tour: Visit the stable or outdoor area where horses are kept.
Hands-On Experience:
Grooming Session: Participants learn how to groom a horse (brushing, mane-taming, etc.).
Feeding Time: Create mini grazing boards to share with the horses
12:15 PM - 12:45 PM: Equine-Assisted Therapy
Presentation: Explain how horses are used therapeutically for emotional well-being.
Discussion:
PTSD and Horses: Share stories of how horses have helped people cope with trauma and stress.
Role Play: Participants act out scenarios where a therapy horse provides comfort.
12:45 PM - 1:15 PM: Lunch Break
Picnic Time: Enjoy a packed lunch while discussing favorite horse facts.
1:15 PM - 1:45 PM: Creative Horse Art
Art Activity: Participants create horse-themed artwork (paintings, drawings, or collages).
Share and Discuss: Each participant explains their art and what horses mean to them.
1:45 PM - 2:00 PM: Farewell and Certificate Distribution
Closing Remarks: Recap the day’s learning and thank the participants.
Certificates: Award each participant an “Ostel Pets for Vets” certificate.
By the end of this workshop, young horse enthusiasts will have gained a deeper appreciation for these magnificent animals and their positive impact on our lives. 🐴🌟
